Born in Los Angeles California, her parents moved back
to Arkansas in 1970 where their roots were and Anita began growing her own as
well as keeping a few roots and fond memories behind. Growing up she
loved singing behind closed doors but dreamed of singing to thousands. As she
grew up and started having a family of her own, singing lullabies was only the
beginning to singing out loud. Anita started singing out in public in 1994,
singing in church first by getting her daughters (mother of 3) involved in
singing, she then pursued into singing in nursing homes, children's hospitals,
school programs and some programs for handicap children. From there her singing
went to more area's such as revivals, weddings and funerals. Yes as you can
figure out, her music started off gospel, singing Christian music has been her
passion.
Anita wanted do more with her music and reach even
more people with the love of music so she broke more free style when singing
other peoples songs in the love styling, country, country pop, R&B, some lit
rock, Jazz. Loving all styles across the charts it wasn't surprising that she
had a passion to have a special release in the form of country/pop/rock called
"Do You Want Me". Song written by Johnny Harp with both Anita and Johnny
narrowing the music and her singing most of her own background vocals. The
received recognition for Song of the Year supporter of VH-1 Save the Music
announced for July 2006, "Do you want me" was awarded to Johnny Harp as "Runner
Up" in song of the year competition.
A big moment in Anita's music career was when she sang
in Little Rock at Arkansas Children's Hospital and the Discovery Channel still
to this date has a small part from 1999 Anita singing Frosty The Snowman in a
special documentary from a patient at Children's, more information on official
website.
She has over the years help organize special music as
well as sound effects for school projects just to show some of her diversity
talent as well.
She also sings live on different Opry shows, check out
her upcoming appearances also can be found on official website. The Magnolia
Opry show, she's sang at the Oaklawn Opry in TX as well as past performance in
Ashdown Jamboree are some she has performed at.
Anita has been filmed over the years during many
events doing what she loves best, singing. Whether singing lead or backup, solo
or duet, Anita enjoys the smiles from her audiences she states.
Anita has been featured on a duet with Roger Delano in
2004 singing "Heartbreak Ridge" he wrote. She has been compared to vocally as
an Alison Krauss-esque quality to her voice per review by S Todd with MP3
Unsigned.
With a few setbacks in her career, Anita is pressing
forward as far as she can possibly go and she states that if she doesn't get
the big slice of pie..... she'll take a piece of it. No matter what "I'll
never stop singing and go when and where I'm able to go".
When asked who do you sound like... Anita just says "
I sound like myself.. Anita, Everyone has either someone else's style or their
personal style, I have to say that I end up making someone else's song personal
to me when I sing them, that is why I love writing my own and singing them.
With a little country and a little California tucked within she enjoys what
talent God has given her vocally.
Now her music drive is yes to vocally please her
audience from Country To Rock, Gospel to Soul. Young to Old and not so old or
young.
"Music is felt in the soul and in your heart and in
your bones", she adds. Singing is also what keeps her grounded and in touch
with what love God truly has for us when its enjoyed and shared from the heart.
